Dependency Drug Court SUD* Coordination Program


Vista Hill’s Dependency Drug Court SUD* Coordination (DDCSC) program provides Alcohol/ Drug screening and referral to treatment program facilities for adults whose families are involved with Child Welfare Services. In addition, we offer case management and peer support services for parents enrolled in the Dependency Drug Court Level II program.

The Dependency Drug Court SUD Coordination program serves the entire County of San Diego. The staff are stationed at Meadowlark Juvenile Court, Vista Juvenile Court and Child Welfare Services (CWS) Offices. Services include all Juvenile Court branches: Kearny Mesa, East County, South County and North County. Funding is provided through the County of San Diego.

Dependency Drug Court SUD Coordination Program Services

The Substance Use Specialists (SUS) are located at Juvenile Court and CWS offices in San Diego County. The SUS screen clients for substance use and mental health concerns. The SUS provides appropriate treatment program referrals that best address their needs.

Additionally, the Dependency Drug Court Level II program is a nine-month program that promotes the safe reunification of families by supporting parents to achieve sustained recovery from Substance Use Disorders, when alcohol or drug use was found to be a contributing factor in child abuse or neglect. Participants attend court on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis and are connected with our Family Partner staff (FP) for case management and peer support services. Our specialists provide the Court with monthly reports on client progress.

Professional Staff

The Dependency Drug Court SUD Coordination program is staffed by Certified Drug and Alcohol Specialist and Family Partners that have a lived experience of behavioral health and have a knowledgeable background in behavioral health.

Who is Eligible?

The Vista Hill Dependency Drug Court SUD Coordination Program works with adults that are involved with Child Welfare Services. Dependency Drug Court Level II participants must have an open CWS case and be active in a treatment program in order to enroll into services.
