ELEVATE Behavioral Health Workforce Fund Social Work, Therapy and Counseling Internship Program

The Vista Hill Foundation has been designated as one of the four Lead Agencies to provide a high-quality internship experience to support and strengthen the County of San Diego’s emerging and future Behavioral Health Workforce through the ELEVATE Behavioral Health Workforce Fund Social Work, Therapy and Counseling Internship Program.

This is an exciting opportunity for second year Master’s-level students seeking practicum placements, pursuing a clinical degree that leads to BBS licensure (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC).

The internship with Vista Hill through the ELEVATE Behavioral Health Workforce Fund Social Work, Therapy and Counseling Internship Program will focus on providing person-centered, comprehensive clinical care within various Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment programs. By partnering with external organizations for placement sites, this internship experience is intended to provide a meaningful opportunity to better understand the lived experience and complex behavioral health needs of individuals and families navigating services within the System of Care (SOC), and the essential role emerging clinicians will serve as they enter the behavioral health workforce.

In coordination with your learning institution’s internship requirements, students placed through Vista Hill will receive the following:

  • Training, mentorship and supervision through a variety of professional disciplines;
  • Field trips to observe community-based programs;
  • Student networking and collaborative learning opportunities;
  • Onboarding expenses covered;
  • Stipends at 30 days ($250) and 180 days ($500);
  • Support with BBS paperwork and BBS Associate registration fees (up to $500); and
  • Retention bonus at 30 days for those who begin working for a County-funded BH program in San Diego County after graduation ($500).
