Vista Hill ChildNET

The Vista Hill ChildNET program focuses on early mental health treatment by supporting children age 0-5 and their families. Vista Hill ChildNET partners with Community, School and State Pre-School Programs in the in the San Diego North County region. MediCal eligible students from these partnering preschool programs are eligible to participate, and services are conveniently provided at the preschool site. ChildNET offers early access to evidence-based methods and mental health services to our community’s youngest children who might not otherwise be able to receive support through traditional clinical-based services.

ChildNET incorporates the evidence-based curriculum, Incredible Years® (IY), to provide a unique, fun, and engaging atmosphere for children and their families to learn social emotional health and effective parenting. The children learn through the use of puppets, stories, and appealing activities, high quality early learning opportunities and skill building to enhance social / emotional development. Dina, Wally and Molly are three of the puppet friends that support ChildNET staff to effectively teach lessons of friendship, problem-solving and supporting students to have a positive outlook on learning. Through the behavioral support and mental health support services offered through ChildNET, children are able to role-play and practice skills taught so that they continue to develop their curiosity, connections with peers, problem-solve challenges faced, and above all develop strong social-emotional skills establishing a foundation of kindness and positive personality development.

ChildNET also offers Incredible Years® Basic Parent Program to support parents and families. Families are an integral part of our program. By participating in the IY Parent Program, parents learn how to teach important social emotional skills to their children, become more aware of practical parenting skills, and receive support from other parents who may be experiencing similar challenges.

By participating in Vista Hill ChildNET, families can come together, speak and reinforce the same socio-emotional language, and complement each other’s strengths and areas of growth. ChildNET also enlists the support and engagement of school teams in order to foster continued child socio-emotional growth and positive coping skills identification and development and reinforcement of social skills by children in the classroom.

At Vista Hill, we believe that learning begins long before school begins. Therefore, Vista Hill ChildNET is eager and excited to deliver services that support children in their development of social-emotional skills needed to succeed in all aspects of life.
