Adult Services - Zion
NOW
Mike attends the Zion Avenue - Stein Education Center (SEC) Adult Services Program in San Diego. It's a spacious, attractive suite of rooms that features picturesque outdoor views and an outside deck overlooking the San Diego River. This Zion Program offers a creative menu of stimulating, productive, and educational opportunities since 2000. The first SEC Adult Services Programs began in 1982; currently there are four programs: San Diego – Zion, San Diego – Fairmount, La Mesa, and Chula Vista.
ACTIVITIES
Utilizing community resources whenever possible, (such as bus, trolley, library, grocery stores, retail stores) activities include various forms of exercise and fitness, small-scale gardening projects, meal planning and preparation, arts and crafts, vocational training as well as paid employment. And, a full range of skill-building strategies, which promotes consumer independence in community settings. There is plenty of time for structured fun: picnics at the beach, music, games, holiday parties, and the annual summertime Adult Services picnic. Sponsored by the Tippett Foundation, the picnic features a catered lunch, dunking booth, and organized games that participants can win a trophy.

COMMITMENT
Our experienced staff has successfully worked with developmentally disabled individuals who have many challenging needs. They emphasize alternative education techniques for consumers in need of training / activities at one single facility location, with transitioning into the community. At Zion , a higher quality of individualized support is used. Our ratio is 1:3, one Community Training Specialist to three adults.
